Beef

The Rare Breed Meat Company offers the finest pedigree Rare Breed Beef in the UK. We as farmers will either be farming the cattle ourselves or be buying directly from a tight network of local producers, who in most cases sell exclusively to ourselves.
All of the livestock that we rear or buy has been reared in a totally free range and stress free environment which firstly ensures that we have “happy cows” which are easy to handle and produce a meat that is not only succulent but also full of flavour.
The Livestock are fed on Grass, Hay and Silage and receive a little supplementary rolled barley in the winter.

The nature of these rare breeds is that they are non -commercial in today’s farming practises due to the fact that they need longer time to mature and do not grow to the same size ,or as quickly as the commercial continental cross breed cattle.
It is this slow growing nature that ensures that the meat has far more flavour than the large continental breeds and why it is renowned by many of the top chefs.
All of our beef is hung for up to 21 days to ensure the meat will not only taste good but is very tender as well.

The breeds we offer are as follows:

  • Highland
  • British Hereford
  • British White
  • Longhorn
  • Shorthorn
  • Gloucester
  • White Park
  • Red Poll
  • Dexter
  • Sussex Red
